Dr. Sadayuki Abeta received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical communication engineering from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1993, 1995, and 1997 respectively.
He has been with NTT DOCOMO, INC from 1997, where he is currently a Director of the radio system group in the radio access network development department. Bob Azzi is Senior Vice President of Sprint’s Network. Bob leads a team of nineteen hundred employees composed of executives, managers, and engineers nationwide and internationally who provide network development and deployment, access management and service assurance for Sprint consumer and business customers. He directs the ownership and operations of the CDMA, iDEN and global IP networks operated by Sprint. Azzi is the Sprint executive officer in charge of the organization that ensures the success of the partnership between the Ericsson Corporation and Sprint Nextel Corporation.
During Mr. Azzi’s 20 plus years of tenure at Sprint, he has held senior leadership positions in network engineering, software development, network planning, network operations and customer service in Minneapolis, Virginia and Kansas City. His industry expertise was honed from work in local, long-distance, international and wireless telecommunications networks. Prior to joining Sprint he held various management positions in operations, engineering, and access verification with AT&T Long Lines in Chicago and New Jersey during an eight-year career with AT&T.
Azzi holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and an MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. He and his family reside in Olathe Kansas.

Mike Lanman is president – Enterprise and Government Markets for Verizon Wireless, the premier wireless provider with the largest, most reliable wireless voice and 3G broadband data network. In this role, he is responsible for all sales and service to multi-national corporations and federal government accounts.
Prior to assuming his current position in October 2009, he was vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, responsible for the company's market strategy and segmentation, pricing, product management, wireless device procurement, brand management and marketing communications.
Lanman joined PrimeCo Personal Communications, a predecessor company of Verizon Wireless, in July 1995 as the director of sales and marketing for the Richmond market. Later that year he was named vice president and general manager for the South Florida region.

Dr. Hideo Okinaka is Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Technologies and Spectrum Division at KDDI Corporation and responsible for industry and government relations on technology matters including investigation into emerging technologies, standards strategy, bridging the valley between standardisation and implementation, and spectrum affairs. Prior to assuming the current role in April 2006, he was responsible for the corporate level technology strategy as Vice President and General Manager of Strategic Technology Management Division. Until March 2004, he had been working on the cellular telephone business since 1991, including business development strategy for the KDDI’s “au” business unit as Vice President, the Japanese TDMA and IMT-2000 system development, and licence bidding in offshore markets. Prior to this, he spent 14 years for R&D primarily on the satellite communication system engineering with particular emphasis on mobile satellite systems at KDD and Inmarsat.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of WiMAX Forum. He was the Chair of 3GPP2 Steering Committee in 2003-2004 term and also served as the Chair of 3GPP2 TSG-S, Services and Systems Aspects working group, from its foundation in 1999 till January 2001. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Mobile Wireless Internet Forum (MWIF) during the entire period of its life.
Dr. Okinaka received Morita Prize and Achievement Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communications Engineers of Japan for his contribution to the development of digital mobile satellite communication systems. He was also praised by Recognition Award from the ITU Association of Japan for his contribution to the 3G mobile system standardisation. He earned a B.S. degree in applied physics, a M.S. degree in physics and a Dr. Engineering degree in communication science from Waseda University.

Clay is active in wireless industry associations, including serving on the Public Relations Committee of 3G Americas.
Clay graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1982 with a BA in Journalism (magna cum laude). He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He also holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England, where he was a Rotary Scholar.
Clay began his career in journalism. He spent eight years as a producer with CNN in both London and Atlanta. Neville Ray has worked in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years with specific experience in the design, deployment and operational management of GSM and WCDMA wireless networks in the USA and worldwide. His experience includes all aspects of wireless network design and deployment.
Mr. Ray is the Chief Network Officer with national responsibility for the management and development of the T-Mobile USA wireless network. This network supports both GSM & HSDPA services (2G/3G), encompasses more than 43,000 cell sites, and serves more than 33 million customers.
Mr. Ray currently serves as the Chairperson of 3G Americas - an organization with a mission to promote and facilitate the seamless deployment throughout the Americas of the GSM family of technologies, including HSPA, HSPA+ and LTE.
Mr. Ray is also a member of the NTIA’s Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee (CSMAC) and a former member of the FCC’s Network Reliability and Interoperability Council (NRIC).
Prior to assuming the national role at T-Mobile, he held the position of Vice President Network Engineering & Operations for the Northeast region. Mr. Ray led the company through the 9/11 terrorist attacks, receiving significant recognition from the New York Police Department, NY state agencies and the FCC.
Mr. Ray came to the US in 1995 when he held the position of Vice President of Network Operations at Pacific Bell Mobile Services. His prior experience included the design and deployment of cellular, microwave and broadcast telecommunications systems in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East.

G. Michael Sievert
Chief Commercial Officer, Clearwire
As chief commercial officer, Mike Sievert directs the company’s customer-facing organizations, managing both the Clear-branded “retail” and wholesale businesses. Sievert’s functional responsibilities include product development, marketing, sales, distribution, customer care, and technical support, including the Wholesale and strategic partnerships groups. He most recently served as CEO and co-founder of Switchbox Labs, Inc., a development company sold to Lenovo Group in 2009. Previously, Mr. Sievert was corporate vice president of the worldwide Windows business group, at Microsoft Corporation. Prior to Microsoft, he served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer at AT&T Wireless, and chief sales and marketing officer at E*TRADE Financial. He began his career with management positions at Procter & Gamble and IBM. Sievert joined Clearwire in May, 2009 and reports to CEO Bill Morrow.

Iyad Tarazi
Vice President of Network Development and Engineering, Sprint
Iyad Tarazi, Vice President of Network Development & Engineering, is responsible for the development and integration of new products and technologies within Sprint’s wireless and wire line networks and for the engineering of the RF and core networks. He is also responsible for managing Sprint Nextel’s technology Integration labs. Iyad oversees an operating budget of $500M and a capital budget of approximately $1.5B. Iyad has been with Sprint Nextel since 1998.
Prior to the Sprint Nextel merger, Iyad provided leadership to Nextel’s Network Engineering department. His responsibilities included network planning, integration, performance engineering, testing and deployment for Nextel’s core network consisting of forty-seven Metropolitan Switch Offices. Iyad was also responsible for Nextel’s inter-MSO transport network, the data network and service layer network applications. Network Engineering activities include design, planning, engineering, integration and vendor management.
Prior to Nextel, Iyad held progressive management and senior management positions with MCI where he was responsible for planning and implementing MCI’s switching, signaling and optical network architecture for both local and long distance networks.
Since assuming, from its inception, the role of Nextel’s Vice President of Network Engineering in 1999, he has been the chief engineer of building and evolving the organization, the core Nextel network, and its support infrastructure. Iyad has a broad background in financial and capital management and all aspects of engineering, planning, and design for both wire line and wireless networks.
Iyad received his BSEE from the University of Maryland and holds a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University.
Iyad has become an avid runner and in 2007 and 2008 he ran and finished the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC in addition to many other races. While he appreciates golf and strives to get better, his golf game is best described as a work in progress.

Rafael Del Villar
Commissioner, COFETEL (Mexico)
Rafael del Villar Hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (1988) and he hold different academic positions. As Minister for Economic Affairs in Paris he participated in the works of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) where he collaborated in the design of the Competition and Consumer protection laws of Mexico. Back in Mexico he became Director General for Economic Studies of the newly formed Competition Commission and two years later Director General for Telecommunications Policy and International Negotiations at the Ministry of Communications and Transport from where he promoted the Federal Telecommunications Law that came into effect in June of 1995. From the middle of 1996 to 2006 Rafael del Villar was part of the Economics Research team at the Central Bank. Since December of 2006 to September of 2008, was Under Secretary of Communications of the Secretariat of Communications and Transports. Currently, Rafael del Villar is Commissioner of Federal Telecommunications Commission.

Wayne Ward is Vice President of Emerging Solutions for Sprint Nextel. Ward was named to lead the company’s newly formed Emerging Solutions unit in October 2009, with responsibility for developing M2M (machine-to-machine) and mobile computing solutions. The Emerging Solutions unit combines the network, systems and open-device expertise of Sprint Nextel and its strategic partners to deliver innovative integrated product applications to the business and consumer markets. As part of Sprint’s Integrated Solutions Group, Ward’s organization plays a lead role in the creation of a broad range of solutions for B2B and B2C customers and partners, including “infotainment “ (such as e-readers and netbooks), asset tracking, fleet management, telematics, smart grid and telemedicine initiatives, to name a few.

Dr. Dawei Zhang
Director of Wireless, China Mobile USA Research Center
Dr. Dawei Zhang is the Director of Wireless, China Mobile USA Research Center, where he is responsible for China Mobile’s next generation wireless technologies and TD LTE product strategies and requirements. On behalf of China Mobile, he is the Chairman of the NGMN Trial Workgroup, where he is responsible for global operators’ LTE trial requirements and evaluations.
Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Physics from UCLA. He was a Post-doctoral fellow with MIT, and spent over 15 years in Silicon Valley working on various wireless technologies and systems. Prior to joining China Mobile, Dr. Zhang was the General Manager of Wireless Broadband Group R&D, and Director of Base Stations at UTStarcom Inc., where he was responsible for wireless base station R&D on mobile WiMAX, TD CDMA, WCDMA RRU, and advanced PHS base stations.
Dr. Zhang holds 7 US and international patents, and over 60 refereed journal and conference publications on wireless and related technology areas.
